What are DMV's hours?
Office hours at all locations in Orange County are:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday - except holidays.

EVENING HOURS:

The GOSHEN office  is open until 7:30p.m. on Wednesdays.

The NEWBURGH office until 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

ALL Orange County DMV offices handle enforcement transactions   for conditional or restricted licenses.

The hours for enforcement transactions in Goshen, Newburgh and Middletown are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Port Jervis hours are 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Insurance suspensions can be handled at all four Orange County Motor Vehicle Departments from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

How do I reserve the County Park's facilities for special events such as weddings, family reunions, etc?
The Orange County Parks and Recreation has many lovely locations and facilities for special events.  You can get further information from the Commissioner of Park's Office by calling (845)615-3830.

When may I take a learner's permit test?
Permits are given in Orange County from 9 to 11am and 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for cars and motorcycles. CDL (Commercial Drivers License) permits are 9 to 12 noon Monday through Friday.

May I pay my traffic/parking tickets at your office?

NO.

Traffic and parking tickets must be paid at the court in the location where the ticket was issued.

Where do I take the Five-Hour Pre-Licensing Course?

The pre-licensing course is offered at local high schools and driving schools. 

New York State Certified driving schools are listed in the yellow pages of your phone directory.

May I come into the office to renew my vehicle registration or must I mail it?

You may come to any of the four Orange County DMV offices to renew. The renewal reminder mailed to you by the State indicates on the back page that renewals must be processed by mail.  Please note that any county DMV office will accept renewals in person or by mail.

When renewals are processed in person or mailed at a County office, 12.7% of each transaction remains in Orange County.

• Nine-digit client ID number, which can be found just above your picture on your learner permit or driver license.  
• Six-digit Pre-licensing Course completion number or Student Certificate number (printed in red).
